Introduction

This course aims to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and competently enter and work in confined spaces. These skills are applied through written, discussion, questioning, role-plays and practical application for the industry specific units of competency RIIWHS202E Enter and Work in Confined Spaces & MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmospheres.

Training delivery combines blended delivery learning via the Loadwise Australia online teaching platform and onsite face-to-face delivery via Trainer led practical sessions.

Students are provided with a Loadwise Learner guide and current copy of the WHS confined spaces ‘Code of Practice’ that details all current best practice guidelines for Confined space entry. Additional material will be made available during training sessions if required.

The course also provides students a pathway that can lead onto further qualification in Certificate II in Civil Construction

Pre-Requisite

There are no unit pre-requisites for the Confined Space Entry course however Learners must be physically able to perform the practical activities involving confined space entry. These activities may range from donning a fall arrest harness to climbing down a vertical ladder system and performing light tasks within a confined space. Contact our office for clarification if required.

Course Location

Scheduled courses are carried out on site at Loadwise Australia’s training facility Address;

U3, 18-20 Maryborough st, Fyshwick ACT. 2609.

Courses can be carried out onsite at workplaces (in the ACT jurisdiction) however a pre-site visit must be arranged to assess suitability for training and assessment.

Course Cost

$438.00 per person (GST Exempt for accredited training).

How are students assessed?

The first part of the course is conducted via the Loadwise Australia on-line learning platform and is designed to provide students with the underpinning knowledge required to work safely in and around confined spaces. All the resources necessary to complete the course will be provided to the student, and assessment instruments will include a combination of multiple choice, true-false, fill in the blank, 'select the image' question types. Learners must achieve 100 % pass mark in this component of the course to progress to the practical workshop.

The second part of the course is the practical workshop and assessment. The practical face-to-face session may take place at the Loadwise Australia training facility or other suitable workplace venues of which the candidate can book using the Loadwise Australia website www.loadwise.com.au The Loadwise Australia Trainer will be responsible for providing all appropriate assessment equipment and perform a risk assessment and control or remove any identified risks or hazards to ensure the venue is safe and fit for purpose before the candidate/s arrival. The trainer will assess and record each candidate’s ability to perform all the required practical performance criteria specified within the applicable units of competency. This assessment can be performed in either a simulated or industry classified confined space

USI Requirements

Confined Space Entry Training requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Loadwise Australia is unable to provide you with your Statement of Attainment until you have provided us with your USI. To apply for a free USI visit the USI website or contact our facility. https://www.usi.gov.au/
