Boom lift <11m (EWPA Yellow card)
Loadwise Australia is accredited through the EWPA (Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia Inc.) to deliver a formally structured (non-accredited) training course delivered by an EWPA-accredited assessor.
The Yellow card confirms that the holder of the ticket has been trained in the safe use of an under 11m boom type EWP that does not require a High-Risk Work Licence.
Note: Loadwise Australia can provide a separate Nationally accredited ‘above 11M boom type EWP’ HRWL course. Enquire for further details if required.
Training delivery combines face-to-face trainer-led theory classes and practical sessions.
Course content includes:
- Relevant ACT WHS Legislation
- Identifying workplace hazards
- Hazard Control measures
- Choosing an EWP
- Pre-start & post Op Checks
- Setting up the EWP
- Operating the EWP
- Shutting down and secure procedures
There are no unit prerequisites for the under 11m Boom type EWP (EWPA Yellow Card) course. However, it is a requirement that in a boom-type EWP, a fall arrest harness must be worn; therefore prior to course enrolment, students should undertake a ‘safe work at heights’ training course.
To achieve competency in the under-11 m boom type Elevated Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card) course, Learners will also require the ability to read; correctly interpret signage; speak clearly and unambiguously in English; and to explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms as is an understanding of basic mathematics and calculations.
Pre-enrolment skills checks are used by Loadwise Australia if doubt arises for students that may have language, literacy, and numeracy issues.
To enquire for a skills check call (02) 5105 6122 or conduct the free Loadwise Australia LLN skills check accessed at www.loadwise.com.au
Upon completion of training all students are then required to undertake their final theory and practical assessments
• The theory exam is a closed-book test, and no outside assistance is permitted. Reasonable adjustment can be applied by allowing students to request an oral assessment if language or literacy barriers exist. (Trainers must be notified of this request before course commencement).
• Practical assessment involves students demonstrating effective risk management, pre-operational checks, correct set up, operating, shutdown and post-operational checks of the under 11m boom type EWP.
Upon successful completion of the course, the EWPA will issue an operator licence (Yellow Card) reflecting the under-11 m boom-type EWP class.
The course can be delivered with the Yellow Card alone, or it can be delivered with the nationally recognised qualification RIIHAN301E – Operate Elevated Work Platform for a small additional charge.
The Statement of Attainment is issued by Industry Compliant Training, RTO Code 40825 (the training arm of the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia).
Note: Regulations made under the current Work Health & Safety Acts in each state require that a person operating a boom-type Elevated Work Platform with a reach of 11 m or more must have a High-Risk Work Licence class WP, in addition to “duty of care” training.
Students are provided with a training manual that Cover all parts of the course. Additional material will be made available during training sessions if required.
